James Randall Kahn

James Randall Kahn, recebeu o titulo de Bacharel em Economia (Washington and Lee University EUA) em 1975, Mestre em Economia (University of Maryland) em 1978 e Doutor em Economia (University of Maryland) em 1981. Exerce a cátedra John F. Hendon Professorship em Economia e é Diretor do Programa de Estudos Ambientais da Washington and Lee University. É tambem professor colaborador da Universidade Federal do Amazonas, desde 1992, e membro do Grupo de Notáveis do Centro de Excelência Ambiental da Petrobras na Amazônia. Dentre suas atividades anteriores foi professor na State University of New York Binghamton (1980-1991) e professor da University of Tennessee (1991-2000). No mesmo período em que atuou na University of Tennessee, foi também cientista colaborador no Laboratório Nacional de Oak Ridge. A área de pesquisa do Professor Kahn é Economia do Meio Ambiente. As linhas de pesquisa incluem desenvolvimento sustentável na Amazonia, desenvolvimento de incentivos econômicos para preservação do meio ambiente, valoração do Meio Ambiente, análise multi-criterial, mudanças climáticas no mundo, economia da pesca e modelagem da interação entre sistemas econômicos e ecológicos.
