This was my first real post-doctorate lecturing academic teaching experience. Along with Professor Paul Meara, a world-renowned expert on vocabulary and vocabulary acquisition, I was responsible for devising and delivering the content of a module titled "Vocabulary Acquisition," a key course on the Master in Science (M.Sc.) in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition at the University of Oxford. Moreover, I was asked to supervise (and co-supervise) the dissertations of a number of students on the course. Selected quote from Dr. Victoria Murphy of that program: "His tutorial supervisions demonstrate a considerable degree of care in helping students to identify and develop research topics for their projects."

Was responsible for analyzing university lecture data in order to identify pedagogically-relevant linguistic patterns - in particular formulaic, multiword units. This research was attached to an ESRC grant output, and ultimately culminated in two published papers ("Listening for needles in haystacks" in ELT-J, and "Thinking smaller" in the International Journal of Applied Linguistics and ELT).

The University of Nottingham has an undergraduate course structure that involves tenured faculty teaching very large groups in an auditorium type setting. In order to provide a more interactive, personalized learning experience, the University of Nottingham also provides follow-up sessions, called 'seminars', which are generally led by doctoral candidates at the university. I was responsible for the seminar, which included approximately 9 students, for the course 'Language and Context' (a course that focuses on discourse analysis and sociolinguistics).

Responsible for a course on the Postgraduate course in English Language Teaching Methods and Translation that I have delivered in the summer months (i.e. summer break at San Francisco State University). This position did not involve any actual teaching. Instead, the remit of the University Leicester Associate Tutor is to read, evaluate, and give feedback on the essay assignments of that university's MA TESOL and MA TESOL and Applied Linguistics programs. Tutors were appointed because of their demonstrated breadth of knowledge in the TESOL/Applied Linguistic area, and were selected via a screening process that involved a number of tasks for candidates to demonstrate their ability to give thorough, relevant and timely feedback (as well as fair assessment and grading).
