Sou Físico Teórico. Possui Bacharelado em Física - University of Calcutta (1965), Mestrado em Física - University of Calcutta (1968) , Doutorado em Física - University of Pennsylvania (1973), Pós-doutorado - University of New South Wales, Sydney (1973-1976) e Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio (1988-1989) . Estudo de propriedades do condensado de Bose-Einstein: átomos dipolares e condensado de férmions
Descrição: Estudaremos as propriedades estáticas e dinâmicas de um condensado de Bose-Einstein aprisionado. Um condensado convencional tem apenas uma interação atômica fraca de curto alcance. O estudo dos condensados de Bose-Einstein será estendido para incluir os condensados de átomos bosônicos dipolares e também de átomos fermiônicos. Um condensado de Bose-Einstein dos átomos dipolares tem uma interação anisotrópica de longo-alcance e tem propriedades de estabilidade distintas e pode levar a formação de soliton estável em uma e duas dimensões espaciais apenas sob a ação de um potencial periódico fraco da rede óptica. Na propagação de som e no colapso de condensados dipolares temos a manifestação da interação anisotrópica. O som propaga com velocidades diferentes em direções diferentes. O soliton também poderá ter uma estrutura anisotrópica. Devido o principio de Pauli o condensado de férmions é mais estável e permite estudo na região de interação forte. Serão estudados diversos tópicos sobre os condensados aprisionados, tais como, a formação de solitons, propagação de som e a onda de choque, limite da interação forte, dinâmica de oscilação, condensados interagentes acoplados, a formação de vórtices, colapso etc. Estudaremos estes assuntos usando um formalismo dependente de tempo de campo-médio. No caso de interação fraca este procedimento reduz à equação de Gross-Pitaevskii. Resolvemos a equação de campo-médio numericamente e também via aproximação variacional para estudar as propriedades dos condensados..
